BEST Robotics newest hub, Bobcat BEST, is inviting local teachers and school administrators to come hear an introduction to the program.  This orientation meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 24th, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Roy F. Mitte engineering building on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos (see map). 

BEST Robotics is a non-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to inspire middle-school and high-school students to pursure careers in engineering, science, technology and mathematics through participation in a sports-like engineering-based robotics competition. 

The program is free to participating schools. There are no entry fees or kit costs in order to participate. Funding is provided through local business and the community.  School teams are only required to provide appopriate travel for their students to and from the contest sites, Texas State University.

The contest is held each Fall, beginning early September and concluding 6 weeks later with a head-to-head competition. Each school is provided with identical kits of equipment and parts, a set of game rules, and given six weeks to design, build, and test a remote-controlled robot that outperforms other robots.

Bobcat BEST is our newest hub (local contest site), produced and hosted by Texas State University's Engineering Department.  We are excited to be expanding into this area through a Texas Workforce Commission grant and are actively recruiting new high schools for participation in the 2011 Fall contest.
